Dermatitis and Eczema
Identifying the source of your dermatitis in an important first step. Once a dermatologist at ICON helps to identify the cause, an appropriate treatment plan consisting of trigger avoidance and carefully selected medications to combat the inflammation can be initiated.
Eczema increases one’s risk for a skin infection if not well controlled. Treating eczema requires patients to tend to their skin on a daily basis. Mild cleansers and non-fragranced moisturizing creams formulated for sensitive skin are important to maintain the skin between flare-ups. Prescription topical anti-inflammatory medications are used when the skin becomes aggravated. More severe forms of eczema sometimes require systemic medications (treatments that work throughout the entire body) in the form of oral pills or injections.
